I was given the freedom to paint whatever I wanted, and I began praying about what would bless these children who have been taken from their homes. Since the children would obviously feel very afraid and alone, I wanted to paint something bright and cheerful that would bring them hope and love when they first entered the homes at the facility.
I often pray in the middle of the night, and one night the Lord put in my mind to put hidden images in the painting. I started to envision what I would paint and was very excited to be able to add things that would not only be fun, but hopeful. Fortunately, the director did not mind if I hid the name Jesus in each painting, so I title the series, "Finding Jesus."
After completing two paintings, I found out about having cancer. I was so sad to tell the director I could not complete the project due to needing to go through chemo and radiation. She was so loving and thoughtful and told me there was no time limit on completion and she looked forward to when I could paint again. Well, after many months I was cancer free and finally got the energy to paint again. Finishing the paintings was indeed a beautiful victory.
It really blesses me to know so many little eyes have seen and will continue to see these paintings that still hang in each of the 5 homes at the facility. God is good.
