Pastel Demonstration / Poppies by Susan Jenkins

This is a speed video of a pastel painting I did of some brilliant poppies in a field bursting with color.  I have been using a technique lately of making my own pastel boards with a beautiful golden underpainting. It really makes the colors explode in the final painting. I titled this one, "Seeking His Face" because the poppies seem to be reaching toward the light.

Here is the final painting. :)

Watercolor Demo / "Flowers for Lorena"

Watercolor is not my specialty medium, but I am really learning to love it. This was a loose and spontaneous painting I did for my son's girlfriend, Lorena.  She is from Romania. He had bought her these flowers while she was visiting and I wanted to make a painting to keep the flowers eternally alive.  Check out how I paint with both hands in this. I am primarily left-handed, but have learned to be pretty ambidextrous in a right-handed world.  ;)
Hope you enjoy this speed demo...

Almost Forgotten

This is the largest pastel painting I have ever done. It is 24" x36".  I named it, "almost forgotten" because the little path leading to the field is almost totally overgrown. I find that if we don't frequent the places we love, often they will become impassible.  Here is a video of me working on the painting and some photos as well.

Precious Child Reading My Book, "The Mountain Queen"

The greatest blessing in creating this book has been to see actual photos of it in the hands of little readers.  My purpose for the book was beyond any financial gain and truly about getting this beautiful message of Christ to precious hearts.

The book can be purchased on Amazon at:   Purchase The Mountain Queen

Computer Drawing on Wacom Drawing Tablet

While I don't promote smoking, I thought this girl's photo was so artistic.
This is a video demo of a sketch I did on my Wacom computer tablet.
It's really awesome to be able to sketch on the computer like this.

Acrylic Painting Demo by Susan Jenkins / "He Leadeth Me"

This was a large commissioned painting for a client who wanted to get something special for her husband's birthday. You know what they say about finding a gift for men....  It's hard to get something they don't already have! :)   So she wanted to have a painting created for him of his favorite fishing spot and where he likes to go to relax and be at peace.
They were very pleased with the final painting.
